A lady’s dream day.

So I decided to blog about this whole experience since day one two. I am officially engaged!!! It was the sweetest most romantic experience. Ill summarize it here. He asked me to go with him and meet someone by Huntington Beach, well he got a call saying the guy canceled (all part of the plan) so he decided to take me on a Gondola ride (for one of his clients “worked” at but still all part of his plan). I thought it was the cutest thing and a hour and a half trip seemed awesome. A hour into our trip the Gondolier said something very silly. He mentioned that there was a myth that said that an old man wrote poems to old lovers put them in bottles and dropped them at sea, and then pointed out that there was one ahead. I thought he was crazy but as I looked out into the ocean, there was a bottle floating and I picked it up. I opened it and I read a poem that finished with: will you marry me? I see Richard on his bended knee and I was so excited and beyond surprised! I said yes and hugged him as I laughed of how good he got me! Anyway, we went on to get fish tacos and my home shortly after. Our families were extremely happy for us!

I never thought about my wedding before so I have a lot of research to do! Dress, place, food, decor, guests ahhhh so much! It’s a lot of good pressure and excitement mixed together.

[Mon July 11]: We’ve looked into what we would like our wedding to be like. Our budget and the date. So far we have none. lol BUT we do have many ideas! Ive just messaged an old friend that can help w/decoration. She’s really good :) Potential ideas for a ceremony: Church and halls. Reception: His parents house, Halls. We would love a beach wedding but in Hawaii, problem is we probably cant get all of our relatives out there in the next 4-8 months. Which brings me to the date. We don’t have anything set, so we are going with the flow. See how quickly and thoughtful we can make this happen. No, we aren’t in a rush but things are starting to move and we estimate this to happen within the next few months God willingly. We do not want anything we cannot afford. We will be smart about our money and starting future together. I’m pretty stoked lol.

[Tue July 12]: Something I want to mention is that I have been friends with my finacé for a year and a half prior to officially getting together. We were strictly friends and now I can say that it is possible to fall for a best friend.

Ideally, I would like a big wedding only so I could invite everyone I care for. I have a lot of friends. I know that’s not likely to happen because it would ruin us financially. So deciding about the number of guests I want is TERRIBLE. I hate selecting some over others. I will stick with family and very close friends. Today I was thinking about my bridesmaids and who would I want them to be. I made a list of 16 girls! I am narrowing it down to less than half lol. I hope I can have one last Girls Night Out with all of them. That can probably be my Bachelorette party :)

[Wed July 13] Crazy to say, but I have found my dress!! After three stores and 11 dresses. I love it! I think its perfect for me. There is one thing that needs to be changed but I pray that the alterations go perfect to fit my request :) I will be going to see a church today with my mom and fiancé. I love saying that word. So fancy ahahha.

[Thur July 14] Today we decided to get married on 9.10.11 by court. Its a fun date and gives us 3 months to make it official w/our church wedding. Hopefully by then we have found a venue. The place we checked out yesterday was a fail. I didn’t like it at all. We will continue looking.

[Tue July 19] We had our engagement party this past weekend at his parents house, where we most likely have the reception at. We booked the church just yesterday and they didn’t have our ideal date. November 12, 2011 was booked for a Women’s service so we decided to go with the weekend before. Its official - November 5, 2011 will be my wedding day God willing. We thought about doing it later but we didn’t want to get too close to holidays. Anything before November was just too soon.

So I have the church and my dress! I still cant believe it didn’t take us months to figure out. We fell in love with this church since the moment we walked in. After looking at a few churches this one was the winner. Today we will go talk to the caterer, who happens to be my sisters best friend’s father. We used his services for my parents 25th anniversary a year ago in November and hope to use him again.

I pray that God is in control of my wedding. From the smallest details to the future for both of us. I know he has been so merciful with me and he continues to fill me with happiness. I pray that everything that happens is in his perfect will for us, not our way but always His.

[Fri August 5] So I know I said we booked the church, but we have been going back in forth with looking for a place that has both a ceremony & reception hall and this weekend we will have looked at two more places and hopefully found the ideal one. This would mean we get the deposit back from the church we booked several weeks ago. I do hope I love one of the two places I will see this weekend. It will be tough to top the church we booked. I love that place. Lets pray for the  best :)

I have also determined my 7 bridesmaids and 1 matron of honor :) We will be looking at dresses tomorrow.

[Mon August 8] We have finally set the church and we are going with the original one we both fell in love with. We also found the bridesmaid dresses :) Well for 5 of them. My sisters and my matron of honor will be wearing something different.

[Wed August 31] Church? Check. Bridesmaid/Maid of Honor Dresses? Check. Groomsmen Suits? Check. My dress? Check. Reception Hall? Check. Food? Not quite yet. So a few things I want to mention. Dinner will strictly be for family and church members. Which is a small number conveniently and I want to keep it very private. My fiance and I decided this would be the best option for us. We are able to invite whomever we want to our ceremony, have them witness our union under God and have just our close friends/fam join us for reception dinner. Then away we go to……Hawaii/Costa Rica/Cancun? Idk yet. This part remains up in the air.

Oaths.

Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’ But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one. - Matthew 5:33-37

Ive failed miserably on this. How many times do we promise God certain things that we know wont realistically carry through? Is it simply enough to do so because of our ‘good intention’? I want my yes’ to mean so and my no’s to be exactly that. No broken false promises. Make your words mean what you say. Say what you mean.
